COVID-19 Update - March 14th, 2020

Dear Peregrine Community,

Today, our School Directors and Board Officers unanimously agreed to join all Yolo County public schools and close our Early Childhood Centers next week (March 16 - 20). We will also be closed for Spring Break, March 23-27, as scheduled.

All Yolo County public schools are closed until April 19. Next week, we will evaluate our school plans for after Spring Break.

As of this communication, there are no known cases of COVID-19 among members of the Peregrine community.

There are now two confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Yolo County. There has been more public discussion encouraging individuals and institutions to act in ways to slow the spread of COVID-19 in order to lessen acute pressure on health care services. We decided it was prudent and socially responsible for Peregrine School to make a decision that aligns with that approach.

We recognize that this disruption in school closure is real and significant for many of our families, and had hoped to remain open especially for families for whom childcare is essential. However, the benefits of closing the school, including the potential life-saving benefits, outweighed any reason to remain open.

We want to thank everyone for your feedback to our announcement yesterday to keep our ECC open. Feedback ranged from disappointment and concern to understanding and gratitude for the hard work in making the latest difficult decisions.

As we stated in our announcement yesterday, tuition must still be paid in the event of a school closure; no refunds will be issued. During this unprecedented crisis, we want to support our staff as much as we can. We are committed to paying our staff their full wages during this closure, and if possible, for any further weeks of closure.

Deep Cleaning of Campuses and Classrooms

While the school session is suspended, disinfection and a thorough cleaning of all surfaces will occur before school reopens.

We are here to support you!

  1. Our business office will continue to operate during the school closure in order to make sure our employees and our bills are paid. To minimize the amount of in-person interaction, we will not be open to the public. If you have questions, please leave a message at 530-753-5500 or email us.

  2. To provide support for you next week during the closure, our ECC Head Teachers will communicate with you ideas and suggestions on how to provide structured days of activities and projects to keep your children busy and learning.

Please, confirm with your child’s Head Teacher that you received this ECC closure announcement.

Thank you for your patience and understanding during these challenging times.
