Why choose an independent school in Davis?

We believe that a love of learning leads to joyful people and communities. The purpose of education is to build a child’s lifelong capacity to learn rather than to simply impart knowledge. Our small independent school allows teachers and staff to establish trust and lasting bonds with the children and families we serve.

Peregrine School prepares children to be the citizens of the future: collaborative, curious, creative, and possessed of the self-motivation that will allow them to thrive throughout life. We utilize the latest research in human development to create child-centered, project-based programs that emphasize the natural sciences, the arts, outdoor education, and environmental & social responsibility.

The Peregrine Project consists of two early childhood centers (serving ages infant-5 years), an elementary school (TK-6th grade), after school programs, summer camps, and both community-based & international service learning projects. It was founded in 2007 by Lorie Hammond and Elena Whitcombe, a mother-daughter team.
