Afterschool at Peregrine Elementary School

In addition to its Kestrel Club program for currently enrolled students from 3:00-6:00 p.m., Peregrine Elementary School offers a variety of afterschool classes that are also open to the general public, for students in grades K-8.

Elementary Afterschool Program

Our 2013-14 elementary afterschool program is full of unique and inspiring class offerings for students in grades K through 8!

Afterschool Filmmaking Workshops with Chris Erickson (Grades 4-8)

Learn to make your own film with Peregrine School teacher, writer and filmmaker Chris Erickson in weekly, two-hour afternoon workshops. Classes are held Tuesdays from 3:20-5:20 p.m. at Peregrine Elementary School in South Davis. Sessions currently open for enrollment include:  1) Zany Zombie Films, 11/12 through 12/17; 2) Intensive Filmmaking Techniques - The Whole Shebang, 1/7 through 2/11; and 3) Animation Madness, 2/18 through 3/18.   Click here for more information, including full session descriptions and rates.

Afterschool Music Instruction with David Meyer (Grades K-3, Ages 9+)

Peregrine Elementary School's music teacher, David Meyer, is offering both group recorder classes for students in grades K-3 and private music lessons in guitar and flute for students ages 9 years and up.

The group recorder classes will be held Tuesdays from 3:15-4:00 p.m. at Peregrine Elementary School in South Davis. Sessions currently open for enrollment include: 1) 11/19 - 12/17; 2) 1/7/14 - 3/18/14; and 3) 4/1/14 - 6/10/14.  MATERIALS: Students must provide their own soprano recorder and lesson book. The recommended recorder is a Yamaha YSR24B, but any soprano recorder is OK. The lesson book is Best in Class: Comprehensive Recorder Method by Bruce Pearson. Both are available at music stores or online for about $5.00.

David is also offering private classes, in guitar or flute, at $35/half-hour or $50 per full hour on Tuesdays after the group class (preferred) or on Thursday afternoons, until 6:00 p.m. Children ages 9 years and older are best suited to learn these instruments; if your child is younger than 9, please contact Carrie Fisher Stone at the school ([email protected]) and ask her to arrange for you to contact David directly to discuss your interest.

Afterschool Beginning French with Jennifer McSpadden (Grades K-6)

Peregrine Elementary School offers a mixed-age beginning French class for students in grades kindergarten through six. Classes are Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 3:15 PM to 4:00 PM.  The teacher is Jennifer McSpadden, a French Ph.D. candidate at UC Davis. Class will be held over three sessions during the school year. Sessions II and III are continuing sessions, and build on Session I. Session I runs 9/16/13 to 12/18/13; Session II runs 1/6/14 to 3/19/14; and Session III runs 3/31/14 to 6/11/14.  Click here for more information and/or to register.

All afterschool classes are held at our elementary school location in South Davis.  A registration form may be downloaded by clicking here.  Registration forms and payment should be dropped off at the school between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and noon Monday through Friday, or mailed to:
